Educational Offerings

Every family deserves quality education.

All classes are FREE, there are no income requirements or application processes.

We are proud to offer comprehensive childbirth education for pregnant women and their partners! As a non-profit organization, we provide these classes free of charge to teen or single mothers and families facing unexpected pregnancies.

Earn While You Learn

We know having a baby can get really expensive. When you attend our classes, you earn credit to spend on clothing, diapers, supplies, and furniture in our Baby Boutique.

Upbeat, Not Uptight

These ain’t your mama’s childbirth classes! Learning should be fun and engaging. We think if you enjoy coming to class, you will learn more and feel prepared for the challenges ahead of you. Whatever your situation is, we want you to feel comfortable and at home in our classroom. Many women come with the dad-to-be; others come with family members or friends.

Remember to Register

If you are taking a birth and baby preparation class, it’s best to register for one that ends at least THREE weeks before your due date. That way, you won’t miss the last birth preparation classes if your baby is born early. Don’t delay registering!

EDUCATIONAL OFFERINGS

  • Can I walk in or do I need to make an appointment?
We highly recommend that you schedule an appointment to make sure that we are available to meet with you in a timely manner. We accept walk-ins too.
  • How do I know if I am pregnant?
The easiest way to determine if you are pregnant is to take a free pregnancy test at our clinic. Just because your period is late doesn’t always mean you are pregnant. Stress, hormonal changes, weight gain or loss are all possible reasons for a change in your menstrual cycle. We recommend you wait until the week after your period should have started. Learn more about our free pregnancy tests here.
  • How accurate is the pregnancy test?
Our tests are laboratory rated and 99% accurate. Urine-based pregnancy tests detect the hCG hormone in a pregnant woman’s system. Since the production of hCG can vary greatly from woman to woman, sometimes as much as 20 fold, time periods when a “positive” test occurs can also vary. Our pregnancy tests can often detect some women’s hCG level as early as 7 days after conception (21-24 days after the first day of your last period), although some women’s hCG level is not detectable until at least one week after a missed period.
  • When should I get an ultrasound?
An ultrasound is the next step following a positive pregnancy test. It will give you vital information such as how far along you are, if your pregnancy is viable, and if implantation has occurred inside the uterus.
  • Can I have a retest if my test is negative and my period still doesn’t start?
Yes, you may be scheduled for another test. The hCG hormone concentration doubles approximately every 2.2 days during the first 3 months of pregnancy.
  • If I'm a minor, do my parents need to know about my appointment?
No. Pregnancy-related services are considered confidential even for minors (with the exception of abortion because parental consent may be required.) You are protected by HIPAA and other privacy laws. However, we do encourage you to involve your parents if you are pregnant.
  • What do I need to bring to receive services?
A driver’s license or photo identification card is required to receive services.
  • How much do your services cost?
All of our services are provided at no cost to our clients.
  • Do you provide or refer for abortions? Do I have to make a decision right away?
We do not provide or refer for abortion services. We believe women deserve to get information from a place that does not financially benefit from your decision and talk through their options in a pressure-free environment.
  • Do you provide contraceptives?
We believe your doctor is best positioned to talk with you about contraceptive needs. We do not provide contraceptives or contraceptive services.
  • How are you funded?
We are funded by the generous support of individuals, organizations and grants. We receive no state or federal funding.
  • Can I get birth control or the morning after pill at Cascade Women's Health?
We don't provide or refer for contraceptives (birth control) or the morning after pill. If you have questions or concerns regarding these medications, please contact your medical provider.

We hope you find our classes can help you have a more confident pregnancy, birth, and parenting experience.

“I was having a hard time adjusting to my new role as a pregnant woman, especially because I felt so tired and nauseous and still had to go to school. The classes helped me feel excited and informed. This program is fun!”

Celia

“The descriptive classes have increased my awareness, and I feel that I will be a better coach during this birth. The instructor made me feel as though I was important, and I liked the interactive style of learning about birth.”
