Position: Medical Assistant

Medical Assistant-Certified (MA-C) – Part-Time Women's Health

As a Christian, pro-life nonprofit ministry, we provide compassionate medical services, education, and support to women facing pregnancy-related decisions. About the Role

The Medical Assistant-Certified (MA-C) works collaboratively with nurses, practitioners, sonographers, patient advocates, and volunteers to provide high-quality, life-affirming care in a faith-based setting.

 

Under the direction and delegation of licensed medical staff, the Medical Assistant supports clinical services, assists with patient care, performs approved testing, coordinates follow-up activities, and helps ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the clinic.

  • This is a part-time position averaging 21–23 hours per week with a regular, predetermined weekly schedule. Occasional evening hours may be required.
     

Note: Full-time employment, self-scheduling flexibility, or per diem opportunities are not available for this position.
 

  • Compensation is competitive within the nonprofit sector but may differ from larger healthcare organizations.

  • There is potential for additional hours in the future as services expand and patient needs increase.


 

Required Qualifications

  • Active Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified (MA-C) credential in good standing

  • Current CPR certification

  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of Cascade Women's Health

  • Ability to affirm and work in accordance with CWH's Statement of Faith and Statement of Principles

  • Commitment to the sanctity of human life and a life-affirming philosophy of care

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and patients from diverse backgrounds

  • Professional judgment, discretion, and adherence to HIPAA standards

  • A servant-hearted approach to ministry and a desire to support women with compassion, dignity, and excellence

 

What You'll Do

Support Compassionate Patient Care

  • Assist licensed medical staff in providing high-quality patient care within the Medical Assistant scope of practice

  • Provide approved health education materials and resources to patients as directed

  • Assist with follow-up communication after patient appointments

  • Collaborate with patient advocates and medical staff to address patient needs with compassion and professionalism

  • Help connect patients with appropriate referrals and community resources through the care team

Assist with Clinical Services

  • Perform CLIA-waived testing in accordance with policies and procedures

  • Process laboratory specimens for courier pick-up

  • Assist the staff nurse during pregnancy testing and STI testing appointments

  • Assist the practitioner during well-woman examinations

  • Support the sonographer during ultrasound appointments as needed

  • Distribute prenatal vitamins to qualifying patients in accordance with established policies

  • Assist with scheduling follow-up activities and pregnancy dating verification processes as appropriate

Maintain Clinical Excellence

  • Ensure compliance with infection prevention and safety guidelines

  • Clean medical equipment and prepare exam rooms between patient appointments

  • Maintain an organized, welcoming, and efficient clinical environment

  • Complete assigned responsibilities accurately and efficiently

Document with Accuracy

  • Review and complete discharge documentation according to established guidelines

  • Maintain accurate charting and medical logs

  • Sign and complete all required documentation in a timely manner

  • Complete mandated reporting requirements in accordance with Washington State laws and regulations

Collaborate as a Team

  • Consult with the Nurse Manager, staff nurses, Patient Services Director, and other team members regarding patient situations while maintaining HIPAA compliance

  • Participate in required meetings, trainings, and annual competency requirements

  • Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to support the mission and day-to-day operations of the ministry

  • Contribute to a positive team culture rooted in service, humility, and excellence

  • As a small nonprofit ministry, team members occasionally step outside their primary responsibilities to support the broader mission. Additional duties may be assigned by the Nurse Manager as needed.

 

Compensation

$24–$28 per hour, depending on experience.
