Staff Practitioner – Part-Time Women's Health

About the Role

The Staff Practitioner works as part of the Cascade Women's Health (CWH) medical staff to maintain and uphold professional and ethical standards of care.

 

Under the direction of the Medical Director (MD), the Staff Practitioner provides clinical leadership and is responsible for directing the clinic team in clinical matters related to the practitioner's signed orders through the Nurse Manager (RN).

 

The Staff Practitioner follows CWH clinical policies and procedures established by the MD and provides care that includes, but is not limited to, sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing and treatment and well-woman examinations.

 

The Staff Practitioner works to ensure that the highest standard of care is delivered in the clinic, including appropriate patient care, thorough documentation, and adherence to professional standards of care.

• This is a part-time position averaging approximately 450 hours per year, dependent on the number of lab results, committee meetings, and other clinical responsibilities. The position includes an 8-hour shift once per week for direct patient care.

• The Staff Practitioner must be dependable, stable, and available for the required time commitment.

 

Required Qualifications

• Demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of Cascade Women's Health

• Ability to affirm and work in accordance with CWH's Statement of Faith and Principles

• Commitment to the sanctity of human life and a life-affirming philosophy of care

• Graduation with a master's or doctorate degree in medicine or nursing from an accredited university

• Active license to practice medicine in good standing with the State of Washington Medical or Nursing Board

• Current CPR certification

• Has admitting privileges at a local hospital or can coordinate with a local physician who does

• Women's health care experience

• Current knowledge of basic women's health care guidelines and practices, including women's health screenings, sexually transmitted infections, and pregnancy care

• Proficient in physical examinations

• Ability to communicate effectively with patients and CWH personnel

• Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and patients from diverse backgrounds

• Professional judgment, discretion, and adherence to HIPAA standards

• Strong interpersonal and administrative skills

• Ability to foster commitment to a common vision and promote teamwork

• Basic computer skills

 

What You'll Do

Provide Compassionate Patient Care

• Provide appropriate healthcare to patients in accordance with CWH clinical policies, procedures, and the direction of the Medical Director

• Provide well-woman exams, including pelvic, Pap, and breast examinations

• Provide STI testing and treatment and ongoing review of STI laboratory specimen results

• Provide health education for patient questions or concerns

• Refer patients to appropriate medical services as needed

• Provide holistic care to patients related to their physical, spiritual, and emotional health

• Provide appropriate patient education regarding procedures, purpose, limitations, and related concerns

• Assist patients in forming a discharge plan and offer educational handouts and referrals to appropriate agencies

• Provide any necessary patient follow-up

 

Maintain Clinical Excellence

• Maintain current knowledge of CWH medical policies and procedures, evidence-based nursing methods, principles, and practices related to women's reproductive health and maternal/fetal health

• Maintain professional standards of care

• Maintain compliance with infection control guidelines and other applicable safety standards to provide safe patient care

• Notify the Medical Director of critical issues and results in a timely manner

• Complete, review, and sign all applicable documentation for each patient

• Maintain applicable continuing education requirements

 

Document with Excellence

• Maintain appropriate documentation for all patient care

• Document in the patient's medical record according to CWH policies and procedures and charting guidelines

• Ensure that clinical documentation is accurate, complete, timely, and compliant with applicable standards

• Complete, review, and sign all applicable documentation for each patient

 

Collaborate as a Team

• Direct the clinic team in clinical matters pertaining to the practitioner's signed orders through the Nurse Manager (RN)

• Consult with the Nurse Manager, Patient Services Director, and volunteers about patient situations while maintaining HIPAA compliance

• Participate in the CWH training program and all applicable committees as required by AAAHC

• Serve as a member of the Medical Executive and Quality Improvement Committees, which meet at least once annually and typically once per quarter

• Foster teamwork and commitment to a common vision across the CWH team

• Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and patients from diverse backgrounds

 

Support Clinic Operations

• Complete assigned tasks in an efficient and timely manner

• Follow CWH clinical policies and procedures established by the Medical Director

• Help ensure that the highest standard of care is consistently delivered in the clinic

• Perform other duties as assigned by the CEO or Medical Director

 

Because we are a small nonprofit ministry, team members occasionally step outside their primary responsibilities to support the broader mission. Additional duties may be assigned as deemed appropriate by the CEO or Medical Director.

Compensation

$65 per hour.
